What People Are Saying About MojoWorld

The Press

"Anyone interested in computer graphics technology and its application to the imagination should really get ahold of this product. MojoWorld is as much a vision, dream, and concept of the entertainment future as it is a landscape generation application. Ken "Doc Mojo" Musgrave is the current dean of landscape creation and the man behind this far-reaching project."
 — Steve Katz, Millimeter Magazine

"

  • Astonishing image quality
  • Massively versatile
  • Excellent value

4 1/2 stars out of five

Although comparisons to Bryce and Vue d'Esprit are inevitable, MojoWorld 2 is an entirely different and far more powerful planet-creation tool. The potential results are staggering. With the free Transporter and cheap Transporter Pro available, it's also easy to dabble before you take the plunge. Wild, wacky and addictive, MojoWorld is truly one of a kind.

Is it useful? That depends on you. Is it perfect? Of course not. Is it fun? Oh yes. Most definitely."

     — Computer Arts

"[On MojoWorld 2.0] The strangest program on the planet is back, and it's better than ever. Mojoworld isn't just better than Bryce - it's a generation ahead! 9 out of 10."
     — 3D World

"Congratulations on developing a kick ass 2.0 upgrade. It's about time CG artists got a stable application, right out of the box!"
     — Tom "Hawkfyr," 3D Commune

"A very sophisticated piece of software...a great tool to create nice animations, and our readers will enjoy the low price. 4.5 out of 5."
     — Stephane Nicolle, Studio Multimedia Magazine

"The renderer surpasses that of other landscape packages. Material blending is one of the best I have used in this type of landscape program. The amount of control you have over clouds is incredible. MojoWorld is an incredible product, especially for its price point."
     — Computer Graphics World

"If you thought you'd seen everything there was to see in 3D scenery software, we've got news for you - you ain't seen nothing yet! Whereas a scene in Bryce or Vue d'Esprit extends only as far as the virtual eye can see, MojoWorld planets are almost boundless. If you want to explore beautiful worlds of enormous complexity, MojoWorld is your best alternative to a cruise on the QE2. Overall 9"
     — PC Plus

"MojoWorld doesn't create discrete terrains, it makes entire planets which can be viewed from way out in space to just six inches away from the surface with no loss in resolution-the detail is essentially infinite. A massively intriguing glimpse into the future. Four Stars."
     — 3D World

"MojoWorld 2.0, recently released version of the planet building software from fractal guru Ken “Doc Mojo” Musgrave is extremely elegant software, designed with a lot of thought and understanding of how people work. The software works by creating a global scene, rather than the discrete scene builders that preceded MojoWorld. The interface is beautiful and is mostly self-explanatory. As the software adheres to some scientific principles, creating realistic worlds, earthly or alien, is easy and the results convincing; the skies, perspectives, and atmospheric effects are stunning. The rendering is fast and the better than the competition, the textures, and materials are great and the software to create these is intuitive and encourages exploration, although the presets are a great starting place. The documentation is excellent, although occasionally assumes knowledge you may not have, but a little playing with the application will fix this. MojoWorld is a lot of fun to use, even for the uninitiated, and it is a joy to see software so well designed from concept to completion. Already there are some exciting plug-ins available for this open architecture, and there is a community of users eager to show their work. If you need to create imaginary worlds or scenes for any reason, MojoWorld is a fine alternative to the more established Bryce Discounted to $199 from $249."
     — John Feld (ex Bryce Product Manager at MetaCreations), PC Graphics Report

"An entire planet can be rendered with less than 200 KB of data…7 planets could be stored on a 1.4 MB floppy disk. The small file sizes facilitate the easy exchange of these complex worlds online. The dream of 'constructing cyberspace' looms … Web surfers will travel to fractal planets to log on."
     — Wired

"What sets this software apart is that MojoWorld turns out complete planets. The creator planets can then explore and animate them. And the (UI) design is pretty damn cool. Frankly, much of the world-creation process is so easy that it feels like you're cheating somehow. One of the coolest things about MojoWorld is that you never know exactly what you've created until you go exploring. Jagged mountain peaks, vast valleys, and intricate waterways are just a few of the surprises you'll discover. You've also got the option of sharing your world with other Mojonauts via the MojoWorld Web site. All you need to do is build your world, and that's the fun part."
     — Mac Addict

"If you've wanted to craft your own make-believe planetary vistas, then multiplatform MojoWorld (for Linux, too!) is your ticket to ride."
     — Sky and Telescope

"This Pandromeda corporate site should be on your short list of must-see fractal world sites. No wonder Intel chose to showcase the product as Technology of the Future at this year's Comdex!"
     — NetSurfer.com

"An amazing 3D terrain-generating program…the MojoWorld 1.1 upgrade offers numerous enhancements, including an improved interface, smoother workflow, and optimized Basis Functions (now almost twice as fast!)"
     — The CDN Bookstore

    User Testimonials

"I've been playing with MojoWorld. I'm [expletive] blown away. And you can print that. Cool new UI concepts, very robust, and it makes me feel like playing God again. And the manual is a work of art."
     — Larry Weinberg, Inventor of Poser and Chief Technology Officer, Curious Labs

"For the first time in all my years of using terrain generators-mainly Bryce-I don't feel constrained to a path the programmers want me to follow. The deeper one goes, the more control and complexity one can achieve. It's like Maya-this open architecture will make MojoWorld stand out above its competition, guaranteed. Good job!"
     — Remo Balcells, Effects Supervisor for "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within," Square USA

"What an amazing feat you have pulled off here! This is incredible software, great documentation with everything so thoughtfully, well designed. (I love the black CDs.) To have done all this with the time you have had is very impressive."
     — John Feld (ex Bryce Product Manager at MetaCreations), PC Graphics Report

"This is the most fun I've had with my computer in I don't know how long. Thank you thank you thank you."
     — Jill Smolin, Development Manager, Cinesite

"Generator is _fantastic_ and represents great value for money if only for the manual which is quite the best I've ever seen. Join us!"
     — Nick Archdale, Flying Pig Systems (High End Systems Europe Ltd.)

"This is best fractal generator that I've ever seen."
     — Jan Hovora, Art Director, Bohemia Interactive Studio

"You just cannot get these results in the same amount of time with any other program. I love flight sims and this has the same feel as it.

Once again, Pandromeda is, in my opinion one of the greatest companies out there...the results are incredibly realistic and as high end as can be. You should pat your support group on the back for great job on customer support, they are very knowledgable of the program and incredibly fast with their responses usually within a few hours--unheard of in any industry. I bought the program to do an animation for NSYNC's newest tour, Celebrity Tour 2002. The program worked very well, and I only ran into a few problems which [Pandromeda support] hammered out for me in record time. The tour is now underway, with the animation being played on a 38 foot wide screen--very nice looking. I had a great time with this
    program..."

     — Kevin Richard

"Here is what I like about MojoWorld:

    1. More realistic looking worlds - because they ARE real worlds!

    2. No painstaking creation of terrains. There are intense algorithms in MW and they are VERY powerful for creating the BEST looking terrains.

    3. Intelligent textures - textures that behave as you'd expect them to when dealing with height, slope, etc.

    4. The worlds are alive rather than the static "create a facade" of Bryce worlds... In Bryce it's like creating a stage - turn left and you see nothing... turn right and you see nothing... make a LARGE terrain and you see ugly geometry.... try making a QTVR cubic movie in Bryce AND make it look realistic - difficult to do. Easy to do from anywhere in MojoWorld.

    5. Resolution independent - the closer you get to a terrain the MORE detail you see. THAT's pretty damn amazing!

    6. Infinite terrains. I remember when Ken used to come into my office at MetaCreations and I'd always tell him how much I wanted infinite terrains for the next version of Bryce. This would create a way to make easier animations and allow mountains to fade gracefully into the background as they do in nature.

    7. GPS coordinates. If you are exploring a MW world you can always return to the place by using GPS coordinates. Unlike Bryce, MW worlds are real places! MW goes to the next step in realism... Bryce just can't do this.

MW lets me explore worlds I create... Bryce can't do that. I am a photographer and MW lets me find Kodak picture spots all over the worlds. Bryce and MW are simply DIFFERENT programs. MW is for exploring and creating whole worlds. Bryce is more for creating pictures.

MW will take world creation to a new place... a place of realism never experienced on any computer before. Play with the Transporter and you'll see what I mean.

Now, did Ken work on Bryce? HELL YES. I know because I was there, working with him. I was the last Product Manager for Bryce before it went to Corel. I'd visit Ken in his office to get tips on terrain creation from him...

Okay, I'm now tired of listening to myself ramble... time to Mojoworld!"

     — David Palermo, Bryce 4.0 Senior Product Manager, MetaCreations

"I am really new to 3D software programs. I have been learning Bryce and Poser and couldn't resist Mojoworld because of the planets. It is by far the best 3D software program I have ever used. It's intuitive and has so many options and facets you'll never grow tired of all the new worlds there to create and explore. Rendering images are fabulous and it is certainly easier than Bryce.

Try it, I'm sure you'll love it..."

     — Rainbow Gypsy, Renderosity

"I have to say MojoWorld ROCKS! The more I learn the more amazed I am. I actually find myself out of breath at times when the render starts coming up from the bottom of the window, it's so incredibly beautiful. Just simply an astounding program."
     — Larry E. Fisher

"Your most excellent product allows me to bring to light the images in my head. Both easily and enjoyably. I honestly lose myself for hours as I play with and experiment on all the different worlds that MojoWorld allows me to both create and visit."
     — Proteus

"I got my Mojo...I got my Mojo!!!!! Was up till 3 AM having a blast! Thanks for the awesome program! I love it!"
     — David Orchid

"This app is so damn deep my head is spinning with possiblity!"
     — Scott Tucker (tuckersaur/raypainter, to the Bryce community)

"I'm having a blast with MojoWorld, truth be known. It's an amazing, deep program. I haven't even scratched the surface yet..."
     — Linda "Fractalinda" McCarthy

"[Opening] the Deep Texture Editor in the Terrain Editor...makes Bryce an infinitely more powerful terrain editor. Sort of a mini MojoWorld."
     — Jonathan Allen

"I have both Bryce 4 and 5 and always worked to get a scene to truly look like the real world...and MojoWorld does that in spades!!! I grabbed the Transporter...and I was amazed!!! Mojo is the 3d tool I was looking for the first time I loaded a 3d app.

Got the full version three days ago and about wet my pants before it got here in 3 business days. I now have shown everyone at work the pictures from it and they all are amazed as I am with it. The features and functionality of this tool will blow your mind!!! Now I sit up at nights reading about fractals-not because I have to in order to use it-but because I want to understand how to get even more out of this amazing tool!

I rate this tool a _strong_ buy - and no, I'm not getting anything for the plug. Like the many programming tools I use, MojoWorld and Bryce are each strong in different areas and each can do wonderful things. And you can use them together!

Buy this program and support Doc's efforts...he is taking us somewhere new and wonderful!"

     — Rex Preblick

"I have to tell you, I've been looking for a program that could do "zoom-ins" from space and maintain the terrain mesh. I've used Bryce for years but could never get the results I got with Mojo World.

This ease of use is what every artist wants.

    Great software!"

     — Rob "Tin Man" DeLisi

"It just gets better - has Bryce had its day as a landscape generator?"
     — Robert Buttery

"I hate manuals and never read them. I find out things the hard way, my way!!! I'm reading your manual like one of my favorite SF novels. I believe you, Pandromeda, have your act together and wish you all the very best of your reality."
     — Jim C. Heaton, Corbin Computer

"I was so impressed with your enthusiasm and the skilled backgrounds of the Pandromeda team that I bought the product on the spot. I knew the team would make MojoWorld one absolutely incredible app, and a ground breaking one at that.

I heard about MojoWorld through a posting on a graphics forum. It caused a great deal of discussion and pondering...we all agreed that it was going to go places and was one to watch.

You will be the talk of the graphics web, even more so than now...your [UI] is great, easy to navigate, understand and work with."

     — Stu Winders

"This is why I like MojoWorld over Bryce: it's the shear depth in a Mojo render that lets you look out to a far horizon, knowing there are lands begging to be explored. Can't wait for my copy of Mojo 2.0."
     — David "Cydonian2" Robertson

"I, Steve Lareau, after being a Bryce Addict for many years, have just created the very first landscapes that I'm happy with, using MojoWorld."
     — Steve Lareau

""Just to say that I received Mojoworld Generator 2 & Mojopack today and I am completely blown away. The manual is fantastic, excellent quality and very well written. In fact Mojoworld is probably the most fascinating program I have used for quite a while, I own Bryce and Vue d'Esprit, but they pale in comparison to your product. It is well worth the money (excellent value) and to be honest I wished I'd purchased it sooner.""
     — Angela Stobbart, One Pixel Deep, UK

"Your software is SO cool! I've been waiting for so long for something like this!"
     — Stefan Wolfrum

"This is a wonderful piece of software that you have managed to create. For the life of me, I am still dumb-struck at it's size and power. Two BIG thumbs up."
     — Keith Bennett

"It's an extremely powerful, incredibly deeply editable, fascinating and exciting piece of software. Compared to MojoWorld, the Bryce Deep Texture Editor is like a kiddie's playground."
     — Jonathan Allen

"MW really has me excited... It's even kept me from opening my new Bryce 5 package!"
     — Kevin Hagus

"You will like it! [MojoWorld Transporter is] the best download game ever!!!"
     — Ceco, cecan@abv.bg

    "This product is Fantastic!"
     — Ringo Monfort

"The BEST looking manual that I have EVER seen for a software package! Quite simply its design looks alien, what a fabulous concept to say the least!

I was stunned by the attention to the detail with the manual altogether, and of course the content. The manual really adds to the software, it's clear, and with each page it covers the software very well.

I turned out the lights and the manual actually shocked me: the cover GLOWS in the dark!

It would seem that Bryce has a new contender on the block…it looks to be a VERY intresting future ahead here. I also feel very good with all the tech support/ Feedback from "Doc.""

     — Blacksteel

"Just wanted to thank you for finally after all these years releasing your wonderful rendering software MojoWorld! It truly rocks! Keep up the great work Doc and keep those MojoWorld upgrades coming! Thanks for the many years of inspiration."
     — Dave Bolton

"I imagine hundreds of thousands of worlds in a MojoGalaxy with all kinds of activity taking place - exploring, creating, commmerce, gaming,
communication, vacationing, etc... Wow! Thank *you* Doc for making this a reality."

     — Paul Hughe

"Thank you for creating such a great program-the Transporter. Your program will make it possible for me to produce planetary scenes never before possible. I'm sending you the first two images I ever rendered with Transporter. Please use any way you please, as an example of how great your program is, even for 3D novices like me."
     — Fred Hyder

""Just to say that I received Mojoworld Generator 2 & Mojopack today and I am completely blown away. The manual is fantastic, excellent
quality and very well written.

"Ahhhhhhh... You've done a terrific UI. Farkin' lovely and soo _reasonable_. Right where one looks for things, there they are…"
     — Cecilia Ziemer

"Thank you for the invite to your world of surprises! MojoWorld is the easiest and most impressive rendering package I have used. It is simple in its layout but complex in what it can do. I will have many hours of enjoyement creating worlds never seen before and I will highly recommend this to all my friends."
     — Shane Fox

"In the very last 4 hours I have made the most beautiful renderings I could imagine of various planets.
This is really great stuff: what a great piece of software, what creativity!
My professional job in daily life is in the marketing industry.
The customer is the most important partner in the whole process and many people forget this.
That's why I would like to compliment you and the Pandromeda company because you know why you are making this beautiful sofware and for whom!"

     — Herman Gijzemijter

"if you ask me it all comes down to image quality and for that nothing touches Mojo. Since obtaining the mojoworld transporter I havn't even looked at another landscape generator (a bit misleading as Mojo makes planets not just pretty mountains). The render output from the pretenders just doesn't come close...."
     — Chemical Brother

"MojoWorld delivers stunning images that no other lanscape app can touch. It's also damn good fun and you can't say that about many graphics apps. It is stunning software and a joy to behold. It's the kinda software that takes over your life and makes you go "ooh Ah AHA" constantly... And it inspires you to write poetic crap like the stuff above. :-)"
     — Alan "Chemicalbrother" Roberts

"I received the package a few hours ago and, much to the chagrin of my fiancee, I've been poring through the manual and can't impress upon you how well written the documentation is. I've never wanted to read a manual before, but your style is simply infectious and I couldn't put it down. Well done!"
     — Andy Moraitis

"This is exactly what I've spent 6 years trying to get Bryce to do...Mojoworld did it straight away!"
     — Paul Francis

"I am so grateful that you have created a product that can effectively replace Bryce (since DAZ is not creating Bryce6 for the Mac, and is not supporting 5 any longer)."
     — Keith Fiore

"I just got my MojoWorld in the mail. It's about time someone made a manual that looks cool and feels good to the touch. It shows me that the manual was not just an afterthought. I am just starting to read it now, but I have to say: Already I don't feel I have wasted my money, first rate manual--first rate support--...first rate product...

    Thanks guys"

     — Fleanbilly

"Anything else I've ever done (with clothes on at least...) that was this much fun is illegal, expensive, or required a prescription. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
     — Tim O'Donoghue

And finally, from an email exchange among Hollywood digital effects artists:

"Hey, listen, try the Transporter and some of the MojoWorlds. You are in for a surprise. And then help Mojo and buy the software dammit! It'll cost you a quarter of what you blow in a strip-club frenzy."
     — Remo Balcells, to digital artists at Digital Domain

"Ya, but are the benefits the same? I mean, sure, it takes your money, but does it leave you excited and covered in cheap perfume? Does it keep you awake until 2am? That's some fierce code if it does."
     — Alfred Urrutia, Digital Domain

    "Surprisingly enough, it does."
     — Peter Baustaedter, Digital Domain, matte painter for Titanic Skies
