3D Commune MojoWorld Tutorials
3D Commune has a MojoWorld tutorials section--check it out!

Introductory

Sample Worlds Torn Apart
Guest tutorialist Chris Drake and your hostess, Calyxa, take you on a tour through the basic editors in the Generator. Part One examines the Simple.mjw world that was the default planet in version 1.0. Part Two examines the Default.mjw planet for version 1.1.

MojoTech - The Big Tutorial
Gunther Berkus walks us through step by step the creation of a brand new world.

Latitude Coordinates
Doc Mojo and Calyxa collaborate to explain how latitude space coordinates work when applying textures and materials to your MojoWorld planets.

Coordinate Systems
An overview of the difference between World Position, Object Position and Surface Position coordinates as input to fractals for textures.

Tips and Tricks

Quick Start for QTVRs in the Free Transporter
A quick road-map detailing how to render cubic QTVR panoramas with the free Transporter.

Simple UV Mapping for Imports
How to apply a UV-mapped texture to an imported model. This is only for when the model does not have an associated .mtl file. When models do have an associated .mtl file, MojoWorld figures this part out for you.

Compare this method of texturing imports to Aktati's method below. The method Aktati shows is what the 1.1 and 1.0 versions of MojoWorld will do when reading a .mtl file.

See the Transparency Mapping for Poser Figures tutorial in the Advanced section below for details on how to import Poser 4 figures and get their transparency maps applied correctly.

Aktati's UV map Texturing Tutorial
Aktati covers texturing a simple sphere with a texture map. All imported models that have UV coordinates can be textured in this way.

Bob Buttery's Quick Render Settings
Bob Buttery explains custom render settings and the types of settings he uses for quick previews and final renders.

Bob Buttery's Render Settings Comparisons
A series of images rendered at different values of Anti-Aliasing and Geometry Detail, showing the resulting images and the render times.

Bob Buttery's Easy Sky Generator
Bob Buttery provides a world file containing clouds controlled with Transporter sliders. Set the clouds up how you like them, then export the atmosphere as a MojoWorld library file for later use in your worlds.

Mask Rendering
There is no mask render feature, but it's not too hard to modify a copy of your planet which will allow you to create masks for post-process compositing. Masks can be made to separate out the sky, water and land.

Shaping Terrains With Bitmap Heightfields
How to use a bitmap heightfield in combination with MojoWorld textures to shape terrains. Using this method, terrains can be shaped to particular forms yet still have MojoWorld's deep level of detail.

Advanced

Importing Poser 4 Figures With Transparency Mapping
When importing a Poser 4 figure, MojoWorld will read the associated .mtl file and apply the color maps correctly, but the transparency mapping information is not in the .mtl file and must be applied by hand. This tutorial covers the details of applying transparency maps to your imported Poser figures.

Animating Water: A Primer in 4D Textures
All textures in MojoWorld are implemented in four dimensiona. This tutorial tells you how to animate and texture--water displacement, in this case--using the Spacetime node in the Pro UI.

Water Surf
Andrew "Androo" Vaudin's tutorial on getting surf effects at water's edge.

Krummen Hacker's InterPlanetary Airport
Krummen Hacker created an amazing airport using the Pro UI. This tutorial explains how to integrate the world of your choice with his airport.

Pro UI

Function Graphs 101
How to use the Pro UI to create a simple terrain height function for your planet.

Using a Time Curve
How to use a curve in your time-driven Pro UI function graphs to create repeating animation effects.

Animating with the Time Node
Not just flightpaths can be animated in MojoWorld! However, animating things other than flightpaths requires that one dive into the Pro UI.
